"a wee place with a lot going on"

Visit Historic Kilberry from Tarbert

Kilberry Argyll Scotland

Kilberry is a fine place to visit when staying in Tarbert, not just for Kilberry Castle (built in 1497) or the award wining restaurant (Kilberry Inn) but also for the scenic single track road that takes you there. It is a single track coastal road with fantastic coastal views including the Isle of Gigha.

There are a number of forest walks (or cycles) on the way. Keep a watch out for the Toriturk forest walk which is under 3k long but takes you to a small hill top with superb views and the remains of an iron age fort. The coastline has many small coves and beaches which are great to visit. Again keep a look out for the signs and then take a walk down to the beach which useually will be very quiet.

The journey from Tarbert to Kilberry is about 30 minutes by car or around 1 hour 30 minutes by bike. It is a designated sustrans cycle route (Campbeltown to Oban).

Another iteresting place to visit in Kilberry is the local small wood craft gallery.
